Mechanically, these could just be +1 weapons and armor, etc., although I like the idea them giving resistance to non-magical damage, or perhaps reducing non-magical weapon damage taken by a set amount. It would make sense to keep Infernium spears, halberds, and warpicks around who can puncture Infernium armor. It's too rare and valuable to put it into bullets, so it's better to make a giant spear out of it so you can keeping using it over and over. It's strong enough to resistance penetration from non-magical weapons, so even if you had a machine gun, all you're gonna do is knock the guy down. So, I came up with "Infernium," which is a powerful metal made by demons and devils. I wanted the demons to introduce lots of technological advancements, such as vehicles like the hell riders and modern firearms, but I didn't want swords and armor to stop being relevant. I am currently running a homebrew campaign that takes place in a demonic post-apocalypse. (Weapons made from Zerconam deal +1 lightning damage once per short rest). This metal has journeyed through the planes before finding itself in your hands (25% chance of working against incorporeal creatures, 50/50 chance of advantage or disadvantage on rolls to make you unwillingly shift to a different plane) This metal is strangely resistance and numbs the area around it to magic (Armor has +1 to AC or +1 to Saving Throws Against Magic) (Armor -see DMG, weapons have their weight reduced (light <- normal <- heavy)) This metal is especially light and flexible. (Weapons made from this material bypass damage resistances and immunities, shields impose disadvantage on spell attack rolls, armor adds bonus to saving throws against magic ) This metal has been touched by the cold of space, it exhibits strange properties. Meteoric Iron/Cold Iron/Voidmetal – Weapons x10, Shields x20, Armor x20, (weapons or armor made with Lifern Bronze shed dim light in a 5ft. This metal is liquid just as much as solid (if broken, the pieces melt themselves back together) This metal does not shine in the candlelight. This metal gives off a feeling of fear and the smell of brimstone (add your proficiency bonus to critical damage) This metal is always warm to the touch (creatures wearing armor made of Belzen Gold have advantage on saving throws and checks made to say warm, and advantage on saving throws for exhaustion from the cold). I did a bunch of these awhile back, some based on Forgotten Realms lore, the multipliers indicate the amount you should increase the base cost of a weapon/armor/etc to buy it, probably only 50% cost if your just getting someone to craft it for you and giving them the material.
